In recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Bamenda City Council is proud to join the global movement in raising awareness about breast cancer and its early detection. The 2021 campaign serves as a reminder that early detection can save lives, and every community member has a role to play in promoting health and wellbeing.

Breast cancer is a disease that affects thousands of women and men globally, and Bamenda is no exception. With early diagnosis, the chances of survival are significantly higher, which is why this year’s campaign is focused on educating the public, particularly women, about the importance of regular screening, self-examination, and seeking medical attention if necessary.

• Public Awareness Campaigns: Through radio broadcasts, community outreach programs, and social media, the Council has partnered with local health organizations to spread awareness about breast cancer prevention, the signs to watch for, and the need for regular health checkups.
• Free Screening Clinics: In partnership with local hospitals and healthcare professionals, the Bamenda City Council has organized free breast cancer screening for women in various neighborhoods to ensure early detection and provide accessible medical consultations.
• Survivor Stories and Support Networks: The campaign also features stories from breast cancer survivors, highlighting their journeys and the importance of community support. These personal testimonies are aimed at providing hope and inspiring others to seek help early.
