New year Celebration
02.06.2021
As the calendar turned and the first sunrise of the year illuminated the hills of Bamenda, the city came alive with renewed energy, shared joy, and collective hope. The Bamenda City Council proudly joined the community in welcoming the New Year with a spirit of togetherness, reflecting on our achievements and setting our sights on the promise of the future.
The New Year celebration was marked by a series of inclusive and vibrant events aimed at strengthening the bond between the council and the people it serves. From traditional dance performances and cultural displays to interfaith blessings and community clean-up drives, the celebrations brought out the best of Bamenda’s heritage and communal values.
The Lord Mayor, in his New Year address, emphasized peace, collaboration, and forward-thinking development as pillars for the city’s growth in the coming year. He thanked the residents for their resilience through the challenges of the past year and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure, youth empowerment, improved health services, and enhanced urban planning.
“Let this year be one of meaningful action and shared progress,” he remarked. “As a city, we rise when every community within it thrives.”
Residents were also encouraged to participate actively in civic initiatives and to hold the Council accountable in fostering a cleaner, safer, and more prosperous Bamenda. The Council pledged to prioritize inclusivity, transparency, and grassroots engagement in every project undertaken throughout the year.
As drums faded and fireworks dimmed, one message remained clear: Bamenda is not just celebrating a new year—it is stepping into a new chapter of growth, with its people at the heart of every step forward.
Happy New Year from all of us at Bamenda City Council. May this year be filled with peace, progress, and purposeful change.
